2024 Emergency Medical Transportation Methodology Update and Air Ambulance Mileage Rate Increase (IB 24-8)
Date: 04/04/24
Louisiana Healthcare Connections is sharing a recent bulletin published to inform providers of an Emergency Medical Transportation Methodology Update and Air Ambulance Mileage Rate Increase (IB24-8) for 2024.
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) implemented an Emergency Medical Transportation (EMT) fee schedule methodology and reimbursement rate update, effective July 1, 2023. The fee schedule rates are identified for governmental, New Orleans governmental, and private providers of Ambulance Transportation Services.
In addition to the EMT rate increase, LDH implemented an emergency and non-emergency air ambulance mileage rate increase, also effective July 1, 2023, for both fixed wing and rotary wing mileage within both rural/super-rural and non-rural parishes. All services provided on or after July 1, 2023 are subject to the updated rates published on the LDH website.
Louisiana Healthcare Connections and the Medicaid fee-for-service (FFS) transportation broker will update our system to reflect the July 1, 2023 fee schedule and reimbursement methodology and recycle all claims within 60 days of this notification. If necessary, Louisiana Healthcare Connections and/or transportation broker will allow all providers the opportunity to enter into contract amendments that include the updated rates. Both Louisiana Healthcare Connections and the FFS transportation broker will notify the ambulance providers of its process and timeline for implementing the rate reimbursement updates.
Providers with questions regarding claims can contact Provider Services at 1-866-595-8133.
All inquiries regarding FFS claims should be directed to the FFS transportation broker.
