2019-01: Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing Covered By Medicaid Beginning Feb. 1, 2019

On Dec. 20, 2019, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) posted Informational Bulletin 18-22: Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT).

Per IB 18-22, effective for dates of service on or after Feb. 1, 2019, Louisiana Medicaid will cover NIPT for the detection of fetal chromosomal abnormalities in pregnant women. This test will be offered as a service to pregnant women over the age of 35, and for women of all ages meeting specified high-risk criteria.
