2023-13: Mental Health and Behavioral Health Rehabilitation -Consolidation of Provider Type and Taxonomy Code

Louisiana Healthcare Connections is notifying Providers that LDH has introduced a consolidation of Provider Type and Taxonomy Codes for Mental Health and Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Agencies effective Monday, May 17, 2023. The consolidation will include Provider Type codes used for Mental Health Rehabilitation Agency (Provider Type 77) and Behavioral Health Rehab Provider Agency (Provider Type AG); both will now use Provider Type 77 with Provider Specialty 78 and Taxonomy 261QM0801X.

All Medicaid health plans will be initiating proper protocol updates to ensure we are fully compliant with the discontinued use of Provider Type AG on new Registry records. On or before June 23, 2023, Louisiana Healthcare Connections will modify the Provider registry to update all PT = AG records to PT=77 with PS = 78 using Taxonomy 261QM0801X.

Why is this important?

Louisiana Healthcare Connections will update our systems for affected providers and will have the registry record updated. Providers will need to ensure their billing staff is notified of this update and will be effective June 23, 2023, the providers should submit the 261QM0801X Taxonomy code on claim submissions.

Louisiana Healthcare Connections will also be outreaching to the individual providers that have been affected. Providers are strongly encouraged to update their National Provider Information Registry/National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) to reflect the 261QM0801X taxonomy; this taxonomy does not have to be marked as primary.
