COVID-19 Vaccines and Kids: Safe for Ages 5-11

On November 3, 2021, the Louisiana Department of Health announced formally adopting the recent CDC recommendations for children ages 5 and up to get vaccinated. This guidance is effective immediately.

The vaccines have proven to be safe and effective in children as young as 5 years old. The CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) urge all eligible people to get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as it is available to them.
