If you're pregnant or have a new baby, chances are you're not getting enough sleep. Sleeping is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your baby.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, as many as 78% of women don't sleep well during pregnancy. That isn’t surprising, given that pregnancy can cause backaches, frequent urination, and general discomfort!
So then, why do we need sleep?
- Sleep replenishes our brains and bodies.
- There are a lot of health risks if you don’t sleep enough. Health risks include obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and memory loss.
- Insomnia and sleep loss may be two symptoms of postpartum depression.
