Louisiana Healthcare Connections is committed to improving the health and well-being of our members in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Health and our valued Providers. Several resources are available including information and training opportunities offered in support of the ongoing performance improvement project aiming to increase Initiation and Engagement of Alcohol and Drug Abuse/Dependence Treatment (IET).
Provider resources and education are available for the following key initiatives:
- Early identification of members in need of alcohol and drug abuse/dependence treatment
- Quick identification of in-network referral options and listings of available Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) providers
- Information on how to become a MAT provider
For members requiring more extensive treatment for opioid use disorders and interested in medication assisted treatment, a consolidated list of our in-network providers currently certified as Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) providers is located on the Provider Resources Page. These qualified practitioners can offer buprenorphine, a medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Additionally, Providers can access buprenorphine trainings conducted by the American Society of Addiction Medicines (ASAM) virtually. The ASAM Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder (TOUD) Course covers all education requirements and treatment information needed to obtain a buprenorphine waiver. To register or learn more, providers can visit the ASAM Waiver Qualifying Training website: https://www.asam.org/education/live-online-cme/waiver-qualifying-training.
