New and Improved Member ID Cards Are Coming
Date: 06/10/21
We all want our health care to be easy and secure. That’s why, during May and June, all Louisiana Healthcare Connections members will receive new member ID cards.
The new cards include two features to make your visits a little bit easier and your health information more secure.
A QR code to make it quicker to check in at offices that have scanners.
A new member ID number that is specific to you.
The ID card no longer includes your Medicaid number to help protect your privacy. (Your Medicaid number still exists; it’s just not printed on the ID card anymore). You will use this new ID number when you call us, schedule transportation, or register your account on our website.
Remember, you must also keep your state-issued Medicaid ID card with you. Some providers will want to check both IDs. And your state-issued Medicaid ID will be needed to receive any Medicaid benefits not covered by us.

When will I get my new card?
All members should receive their new ID cards by June 30, 2021. If you do not receive your ID cards by then, please call and let us know.
What do I do with my *old* cards?
You should destroy your old cards and throw them away. We recommend cutting them up with a pair of scissors. Cutting up your old cards helps protect your personal information.
What should I do with my *new* cards?
You will get two member ID cards. One is to use and the other is an extra, just in case. Keep one ID card with you at all times, like in a purse or wallet. Use your member ID card whenever you receive covered health care. Store the other in a safe place.
If you have any questions about your ID card, please call us at 1-866-595-8133, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. We will be happy to help.
