Radiation Oncology Therapies Update (IB24-23)

Louisiana Healthcare Connections is sharing with providers an update to radiation oncology therapies (IB24-23).

Effective July 1, 2024, Louisiana Medicaid will no longer cover Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code 77387 within Professional Services.

Providers should instead utilize the following Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes as appropriate:

G6001: Ultrasonic guidance for placement of radiation therapy fields.

G6002: Stereoscopic X-ray guidance for localization of target volume for the delivery of radiation therapy.

These codes can also be used to report the professional component of services by appending the -26 modifier to the codes.

Louisiana Healthcare Connections will update our system to reflect the changes above within 30 days of this notification.
