Renew Faster Using the Medicaid Self-Service Portal
Date: 08/07/23
If you’ve received a letter, text, or email from Louisiana Medicaid telling you it’s time to renew, it’s because they need more information to make sure you are still eligible. You need to complete the renewal process before the date on your letter, or you could lose your coverage.
The Medicaid self-service portal could be the fastest way to complete your renewal. You may be able to finish all the steps in one hour or less. And if you need to take a break, you can save your work and finish your renewal later.
You can use the Medicaid self-service portal:
- From a computer, phone, or tablet – visit your local library or Medicaid Regional Office if you don’t have one at home
- On your schedule – anytime, day or night
- Securely – your information is protected and requires a password to access
Learn How, Step by Step
To help members use the portal, Louisiana Medicaid has developed step-by-step guides. These guides are also on the Medicaid website at www.Healthy.LA.gov.

Did you know you can choose to get your Medicaid mail online? You can! Once you choose this option, Medicaid will send an email any time there are letters in the self-service portal waiting for you to view. This guide tells you how to set up this option.
- How to Renew Your Medicaid or LaCHIP Coverage Online (PDF)
When it’s time for you to renew, this guide shows you how to complete the process in the Medicaid self-service portal. In the portal, you can view information you provided during your Medicaid application or previous renewals, so you don’t have to enter it again.
- How to Upload Documents (PDF)
As part of your renewal, Medicaid may need you to provide personal documents. For example, they may want to see a pay stub from your job that shows your income. This guide shows you how to upload your documents to the portal. Medicaid will use this information to determine if you are still eligible.
