Telemedicine/Telehealth Facilitation of Mental Health Rehabilitation Services During the COVID-19 Declared Emergency (IB 20-4 revised 5.24.23)

Date: 05/25/23

Louisiana Healthcare Connections is sharing with providers about an update made to the Telemedicine/Telehealth Facilitation of Mental Health Rehabilitation Services During the COVID-19 Declared Emergency (PDF) on May 24, 2023.

The revision included the removal of language around waiting for approval and added the below language in place:

On May 22, 2023, LDH received CMS approval to allow Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) services via telehealth. This approval was made effective May 1, 2023, thus allowing uninterrupted CPST telehealth services to Louisiana residents. Providers may continue to bill CPST services with the telehealth modifier, when the below clinical considerations, telehealth guidelines and communication requirements are met. The Medicaid Behavioral Health Services Provider Manual is currently being updated to reflect the CPST telehealth allowance.
